Islington Giving - Supporting Families

Supporting Families is one of the three programme areas of Islington Giving. In this area in 2016, Islington Giving awarded new grants worth £59,919, reached 225 residents and supported the activities of 17 volunteers. Additionally, 2 grants awarded in previous years, to a value of £104,046 were managed in 2017.

Current Supporting Families Grants

Family Action Islington | 6 months | October 2017 to April 2018 | £19,073 | towards the costrs of Family Saturdays support.

The Parent House | 2 years | April 2018 to April 2020 | £40,846 | towards the costs of peer to peer community outreach.

Building Social Networks for Families

Following research and consultation with families in Islington, and organisations working with them, Islington Giving identified priority action areas in its work with families. Local families told us they want 'a life, not a service', and so grants to support the building of social networks for families have been awarded in 2018. 

Asian Women Lone Parents Association | 2 years | April 2018 to April 2020 | £35,000 | towards the costs of the Linking Together Project.

Chance UK | 2 years | April 2018 to April 2020 | £50,532 | towards the costs of the Islington Early Intervention Child Mentoring & Parent Programme.

Grandparents Plus | 2 years | April 2018 to April 2020 | £50,000 | towards the costs of a programme to engage and support kinship carers in Islington.

Home-Start Camden | 2 years | April 2018 to April 2020 | £25,000 | towards the costs of peer-to-peer support for families with children under the age of five.

Islington Mind | 2 years | April 2018 to April 2020 | £44,000 | towards the costs of a support group for women carers of children with mental health needs.
