Islington Giving - Reaching Isolated People

Reaching Isolated People is one of the three programme areas of Islington Giving. In this area in 2016, Islington Giving awarded new grants worth £523,712, reached 2,918 residents and supported the activities of 97 volunteers. Additionally, 11 grants awarded in previous years to a value of £481,796 were managed in 2017.

  • 3 years | February 2017 to May 2020 | £90,000 | establishing a Good Neighbours Scheme in the Caledonian area of Islington.  
  • 2 years | January 2017 to January 2019 | £65,115 | towards the costs of the Good Neighbours Scheme on the New River Green estate. This was the first Good Neighbours Scheme in Islington and is now developing across the borough.
  • 3 years | December 2015 to December 2018 | £57,690 | establishing a Good Neighbours Scheme at King's Cross.

Mental Health Challenge Fund

Launched in 2016, the Mental Health Challenge Fund responds to alarmingly high levels of mental ill-health in the borough. Two new grants have been awarded in 2018. 

Abianda | 2 years | January 2018 to January 2020 | £49,712 | towards the costs of the STAR Programme.

The Brandon Centre | 2 years | April 2018 to April 2020 | £46,570 | towards the costs of Brandon Connect - a project to empower socially anxious young people. 

Body & Soul | 2 years | April 2018 to April 2020 | £48,760 | towards the costs of the You are not alone project for 13 to 27 year-olds at risk of self-harm or suicide.
