John Gilbert is co-Vice Chair of Cripplegate Foundation and has been a member of the Board of Governors since 2005. He is a member of the Foundation’s Finance and General Purposes Committee, and a nominated member of the Board of Islington Giving.
We spoke with John about his 14 year involvement with the Foundation
Tell us a bit about your past experience and what motivated you to get involved.
I got involved with Cripplegate shortly after returning to Islington from working overseas and then retiring from full-time work. I wanted to re-involve myself in my local community and contribute to it some of the skills I had developed in my working career.
What do you feel is important about the Foundation's approach to supporting local people?
I hate seeing any waste, but the waste of human potential really saddens me. Cripplegate enables people to live more fulfilling lives and thus to realise their own potential.
