Amir Rizwan brings a great depth of experience looking at new funding models to support social change working with civil society organisations and a wide range of other funders. He has been leading on Comic Relief’s social investment work supporting social organisations with innovative funding tools since 2018, and prior to that managed a community housing investment fund for CAF Venturesome. From the end of September 2020, Amir will also join Big Society Capital as a Relationship Director (on a job- share basis) where he will focus on building partnerships and new ways of working on social challenges with foundations and mission-aligned investors. Amir co-chairs the Diversity Forum for the social investment sector which looks at how to improve diversity, equality and inclusion within the social investment. Amir also brings lived experience, having lived in London for most of his life since coming to the UK as a refugee in 1991 He hopes this will help inform Cripplegate Foundation on how best it can operate in a complex environment. This will be Amir’s first trustee or governor’s role.
