Eniola James is a local resident and has been working with Islington Council as a social worker, working with children and families since 2016, and has recently been promoted to Deputy Consultant Social Worker. Eniola also works with Bright Start Islington as a Parent Champion, encouraging more BAME parents to use the service, as she did herself as a local parent. Eniola’s previous roles included working as a Greenwich Council Support Worker for adults with learning disabilities, and as a Manager at a Children’s Contact Centre in Greenwich. Eniola’s work as a children and family social worker has given her a wider understanding of the challenges and resilience of the local community, and the range of services available to provide support. Eniola has built an online presence where she speaks with new mothers from ethnic minority backgrounds, addressing issues such as identity amongst BAME children, post-natal depression and barriers to accessing services.
