Highbury Fields Film Week

For this ambitious project, the whole of Year 9 was taken off timetable for five days.

Working with writers Andy Walsh, Paul Herzberg and Jim Dunk, and students and tutors from the London Film School, the students scripted, produced and filmed five short films. The pupils acted in the films, operated the filming equipment, found locations, cast the films and directed them. They also produced a documentary film about the project.

The films were then edited by London Film School students and shown in the school one week later.

Quotes from pupils:

"It was really fun & can we have another film week in year 10?"

"It was a rare opportunity"

"I enjoyed making our film"

"I would like all the film & script people to come back & make films over a longer period of time"

"I enjoyed it when my groups story got to be chosen for the film"

"It was an incredible achievement to script, rehearse & produce 5 films in 5 days with over a hundred students involved.

2 films in particular were of a very high standard.

It also allowed the girls an insight into an industry which is male dominated.
