Henry VIII and the Tudors

This project involved Year 3 pupils at Hargrave Park School. The writer was Cheryl Moskowitz.

The class visited the British Library and looked at the exhibition about Henry VIII. They then worked with Cheryl to collect ideas about Henry and what it would be like to be at his court and alive in Tudor times and wrote some group poetry to express their ideas.

In Tudor Times – by Jupiter Class

At the Palace in Tudor times
It would have been so different
I would feel scared but it is nice, very nice
These sticks are like sparklers
Feels like I'm the queen
these sticks are like fire bombs
Henry looks fat and strong
He looks like a bell, five rulers wide
The biggest and fattest man ever
Everything smells minty, looks shiny
There are draping tapestries, curved banners
In the palace Henry has books
about fathers, mothers, wives
Says, 'Now is my second wife
my love, my life,
Anne
