1. Can I apply for cash?
No. We cannot make a grant payable to an individual. Items will be ordered from a supplier.
2. What can I apply for?
We will consider each applicant individually. Grants are usually made for household items such as washing machines, fridge freezers, furniture, flooring and disability equipment. Grants are also made for respite breaks.
3. What cannot be funded?
The Foundation does not provide funding for debts, educational purposes, computers, child care costs, funeral costs or money that has been stolen. Please read the notes to applicants for more information.
4. How much can I apply for?
Grants are made for up to £500.

5. Will the Foundation only support residents in its area of benefit?
Yes. If you are unclear whether you can apply for funding you can contact us.
6. How long will it take for my application to be assessed?
It usually takes 4 weeks to assess an application. We will tell you or your support worker when a decision has been made.
7. I have had a grant from the Foundation before. Can I reapply?
We do not usually give more than one grant in a three year period.
8. How are decisions made?
Most applicants are visited at home to discuss how the Foundation can help. All decisions are approved by the Foundation’s Governors.
9. What happens if the application is turned down?
We will tell you why the application was refused. You must wait a year before applying again.
10. Are there any other charities I can apply to for help?
You may be able to get a grant from the Social Fund or apply to another charity for help.
See Other help for details.
11. Is there an appeals procedure?
You cannot appeal against Governors’ decisions about whether or not to make a grant. The Foundation will consider and respond to complaints concerning:
- Inappropriate behaviour by Foundation representatives
- An inappropriate length of time taken to offer or refuse a grant
- The Foundation not doing what it says it will do, either in general publicity or in correspondence with individuals or groups.
