Cripplegate Foundation Grants Programmes
Cripplegate Foundation’s Main Grants and Development Partner Programmes
Through its Main Grants programme Cripplegate Foundation has been working with local organisations for many years. With the benefit of this experience in 2015 the Foundation reviewed its grant-making approach. From 2016, the Foundation is offering its Main Grants programme alongside a new Development Partner Programme. Through these programmes funding will be offered on a multi-year basis for two, three or five years.
For those funded as Development Partners, the Development Partner Programme will provide a more solid and formal framework of engagement, evidence-gathering and communication built around 5-year core funding commitments. Our intention is that this will help to give grantees more security and space to plan. The Development Partner programme will involve a step-change in ways of working for both the Foundation and Development Partners aimed at increasing reach and impact. The Foundation will go further in harnessing all its assets, including knowledge and connections as well as direct funding. In return Development Partners will be asked to participate in gathering and developing the use of evidence from their work individually and collectively, sharing intelligence with the Foundation and other Development Partners, and helping the Foundation identify and develop programmes and strategies to reach more people experiencing poverty in Islington.
Applications were invited in January 2016. Due to finite resources only organisations which were funded under the Foundation’s previous Main Grants programme were eligible to apply to us in this round. However, Cripplegate Foundation takes an active approach and we are keen to talk to groups working in Islington to deepen our understanding of need and activities in the Borough and to share knowledge and networking possibilities. If you feel that your aims are a close match to ours and would like to get in touch please email us at email@example.com. We do intend to open out our grant programmes to a wider pool of organisations in future years.
The results of our 2016 round for Main Grants and Development Partner Grants can be seen here.
Opportunities for funding also exist through alternative schemes supported by Cripplegate Foundation:
Islington Council’s Community Chest – Funding of up to £5,000 is available for community organisations that work with Islington residents and have an annual turnover of less than £100,000. Priority is given to organisations that have an annual turnover of less than £50,000 and work with people who are experiencing poverty and / or isolation. There are 3 rounds each year. Islington Giving provides grants to organisations tackling isolation, supporting families and providing access to opportunities for young people. Inspired by the findings of the Making the Most of Free Time consultation, a new programme has just been launched with the aim of working with organisations to unlock Islington and fill gaps in opportunities and support for young people.
