Islington Council’s Community Chest
Islington Council, in partnership with Cripplegate Foundation, is launching a new Community Chest Fund for small groups.
Islington Council’s Community Chest is available to Islington organisations with a turnover of less than £100,000. More than £200,000 is available in 2011/12.
Islington Council’s Community Chest aims to:
- Provide opportunities for less advantaged neighbourhoods
- Promote a vibrant cohesive community
- Contribute to local regeneration
- Empower people to take an active part in their communities
- Develop trust between people and build confidence
Priorities in 2011/12:
Our priority is to support applications from the most deprived areas of Islington.
Applications are invited which focus on:
- Improving local residents’ mental and physical health and independence and choice for older and vulnerable people
- Improving the environment and quality of life in neighbourhoods
- Raising educational achievement
- Improving skills, encouraging volunteering and helping residents find work
- Contributing to safer communities: reducing antisocial behaviour and drug and alcohol related crime
Applications for Islington Community Chest are considered by a panel drawn from Islington Councillors, Islington Community Network and Cripplegate Foundation Governors. Final decisions will be agreed by the Executive Committee of Islington Council and Cripplegate Foundation Governors.
