What kind of grants are made from the Islington Community Chest fund?
Islington Community Chest is funded by the Islington Strategic Partnership. Grassroots Grants funding is provided by the Office of the Third Sector

The fund supports:

  • Parent and toddler groups
  • Sports activities
  • Social clubs
  • Youth clubs and other young peoples’ organisations
  • Tenants and residents associations
  • Black and minority ethnic (BME) community groups
  • New refugee communities
  • Supplementary schools
  • Women’s groups and victim support groups including victims of racial harassment or domestic violence
  • Activity-based clubs
  • Events
  • Arts projects
  • Specialist training courses for staff, management committee and volunteers
  • Publications or exhibitions of work


What we cannot fund

  • political activities
  • promotion of religion
  • construction or acquisition of buildings
  • general appeals
  • debts
  • events which have already taken place
  • expenses already incurred
  • national organisations with local branches in Islington
  • statutory organisations
  • grants to individuals
