How to apply: Main grants programme
Receiving a grant

Each organisation which receives a grant needs to provide an annual monitoring report. Foundation staff regularly visit organisations as part of the monitoring process.

This is not a paper driven exercise but reflects our interest in assessing the impact of projects and helps us to ensure that funding is spent appropriately. The Foundation is keen to learn from its successes and its mistakes and we welcome an opportunity to discuss your work with you.

Our funding programme is based on the following:

  • The Foundation's long-term knowledge and support of organisations can allow them to weather crises, whether through poor staff appointments, change of management committee members or loss of funding.

  • Grant-giving is more than cash funding. Applicants are also advised about additional sources of funding, and are linked with similar projects.

  • The Foundation provides core funding for key voluntary organisations in Islington. It remains one of the few grant-giving trusts that regularly provides core funding for the voluntary sector, rather than funding only project-based work.

  • The Foundation is making grants which attract significant grants from other funders, for example the Big Lottery and Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.
