Reports In 2007 Cripplegate Foundation, in conjunction with Southern Housing Foundation, published a guide to services around the Essex Road. The guide was updated in June 2009. The idea for the guide came out of the discussions of the Canonbury Community Development Group. The group realised that many residents and even paid workers do not know about all of the different services, community groups and organisations that exist in this area. This guide was written to help local people to find the services they need, and to enable local groups to work more closely together.
Invisible Islington: Living in Poverty in Inner London Cripplegate Foundation commissioned research to shine a light on the poverty that exists in Islington, to explore the factors that make it so entrenched - ill health, dept, isolation and lack of opportunity – and to re-think the actions needed to tackle it. Throughout, the aim has been to go beyond the statistics and allow local people to tell their stories about the impact of poverty on their lives. The report paints a picture of a divided borough in a divided city, where those living in poverty inhabit an invisible bubble – able to see but not reach the economic and social opportunities so conspicuously enjoyed by their neighbours. |
